Ingredient Notes

  • Peanut butter Whiskey. Skrewball is an excellent choice. If you can’t find it at your local liquor store, you can swap it out with an alternative, such as Sheep Dog or Skatterbrain.
  • Grape Jello. While it’s good to use Welch’s concord grape gelatin, not everyone can find it. If you’re unable to find it, choose a different brand of grape gelatin to use when preparing these Peanut Butter & Jelly Jello Shots.
  • Crushed nuts. The crushed peanuts on top add a nice little crunch to these PB&J shots!

Jello Shots Essentials

  • Condiment cups – Unless you have a large stash of shot glasses, you’ll want to make your jello shots in condiment cups. Most jello shots are made in 2 ounce condiment cups but if you want the shots to go further, you can use 1 ounce condiment cups instead.
  • Sauce pan – You’ll want to use a decent, non-stick saucepan for preparing your jello shots. We like this one.
  • Baster – A baster is my secret to easily filling the jello shot cups, without making a mess!
  • Measuring cups – To ensure you’re adding the right amount of water and liquor, you’ll want a decent measuring cup as well.

How to Make Peanut Butter & Jelly Jello Shots

  • Make the jello. Boil the water, remove from heat and stir in the grape jello.
  • Add the whiskey. Stir the whiskey into the jello mixture.
  • Chill. Pour the peanut butter and jelly shot mixture into a condiment cup. Refrigerate for a few hours, until the jello is solid. Sprinkle with crushed nuts if desired and serve.

Tips for Making Peanut Butter & Jelly Jello Shots

  • Be sure to bring your water to a boil, turn off the heat, and then toss your gelatin packet into the pan with the hot water.
  • Mix your gelatin well using a wooden spoon. You don’t want to scrape the bottom of the pan with a metal spoon.
  • If you’re planning to add the crushed nuts, there are a few ways to crush them. You can put peanuts in a food storage bag, seal the bag shut, and roll them over with a can of veggies to crush them. If not, you can add them to a food processor to quickly and effortlessly chop them into pieces.

Can I Make This in Advance?

You can make the Peanut Butter & Jelly Jello Shots in advance. After you prepare them, they’ll need to sit in the fridge until the gelatin turns solid, which typically takes several hours. You can cover the shots with plastic wrap and keep them refrigerated to keep them fresh. Leave the shots in the fridge until you’re ready to enjoy them with loved ones.
