Easy Vodka Cranberry Jello Shots

Not only are these cranberry jello shots easy to make, but they’re also versatile too! While I definitely put them on my “Christmas jello shot” list, they could easily work for Thanksgiving too. Just imagine these vodka jello shots on your Thanksgiving dessert table – all of the adults would surely be going back for seconds!

While you can easily make these festive jello shots with just jello, water, and vodka, I think the sugared cranberries on top add an extra special touch. It takes these from basic vodka jello shots to something worthy of being served at the holidays.

What You’ll Need

These holiday jello shots are perfect because they require just 2 main ingredients.

  • Jello – These vodka jello shots use, obviously, cranberry jello which offers both a festive flavor and color.
  • Water
  • Vodka – Whatever your favorite vodka is will work perfectly here. You can also substitute white rum if you prefer.
  • Cranberries – I like to add either sugared cranberries (as pictures) or fresh cranberries as a garnish before serving.

How Many Jello Shots Do You Get From A Box of Jello?

A 3oz box of jello will make about 8 jello shots, depending on the size of your cups and how much you fill them.

Jello Shot Essentials

We make a LOT of jello shots! Here are our must-haves.

  • Condiment cups – Unless you have a large stash of shot glasses, you’ll want to make your jello shots in condiment cups. Most jello shots are made in 2 ounce condiment cups but if you want the shots to go further, you can use 1 ounce condiment cups instead.
  • Sauce pan – You’ll want to use a decent, non-stick saucepan for preparing your jello shots. We like this one.
  • Baster – A baster is my secret to easily filling the jello shot cups, without making a mess!
  • Measuring cups – To ensure you’re adding the right amount of water and liquor, you’ll want a decent measuring cup as well.

How to Make Cranberry Jello Shots

These cranberry jello shots are perfect for your holiday party because they require just 15 minutes to make and can easily be made a day in advance!

  • Make the jello. Bring the water to a boil. Remove from heat and whisk in the cranberry jello until dissolved.
  • Add the vodka. Stir in the cold water and vodka. Pour the mixture into the jello shot cups, filling each one about 3/4 way.
  • Chill. Place the vodka jello shots in the fridge for at least 4 hours.
  • Serve. Garnish with fresh or sugared cranberries before serving. Enjoy!

Tips for The Best Vodka Jello Shots

Here are a few tips for making these vodka cranberry jello shots.

  • Use a baster to fill the jello cups. The easiest way I’ve found to make jello shots is to use a baster to suck up the mixture and transfer it to the cups. A ladle with a pourable edge also works well.
  • Make these a day in advance. While jello shots should always chill for at least 4 hours, I always recommend making them a day ahead of time to ensure they set fully before serving.
  • Double the recipe. The great thing about this jello shot recipe is that you can easily double it to make even more shots for a crowd.

How to Store Jello Shots

These cranberry jello shots will last in the fridge for up to 5 days. However, note that the sugaring on the cranberries likely will “melt” before then, so if you’re making them intentionally in advance, wait to add the cranberries.

If storing these for more than a few hours, put the lids on the jello shot cups so they are easier to stack.
