This recipe is so easy to whip up and has such a delectable and rich flavor that you will have trouble saying no to a second – or maybe third – glass.

Why You’ll Love This Strawberry Martini

Not much says Valentine’s Day like chocolate covered strawberries. Plus adding a festive drink or two to the mix is perfect for helping you get into a romantic mood.

You’ll adore this Valentine’s Day martini because it blends together a bit of everyone’s favorite flavors in a creamy and sweet drink. This is not at all a dry martini recipe, it ranges more toward the sweet side.

What You’ll Need

To make the perfect Valentine’s Day martini you are going to need a few sweet treats to really create something special.

  • Tequila Rose – Really the best choice to make this recipe perfect. Check the tips section below for what you can and cannot replace this with.
  • Chocolate Vodka – 360 Double chocolate vodka is my favorite but any chocolate vodka will do just fine.
  • Strawberry Milk – Any fat percentage will do. I prefer it to have some but not too much. 1% strawberry milk is great in this recipe.
  • Frosting – White or pink frosting really looks the best and most festive here. If you really want pink frosting but can’t find it, you can always purchase white frosting and mix it with a touch of pink or red food coloring.
  • Sprinkle candy hearts – They will probably carry these in almost any grocery store you set foot in this time of year, but you can always pick some up on amazon too in a variety of colors and sizes.
  • Ice Cubes

How to Make a Chocolate Covered Strawberry Martini

I would have to say the first step of creating this drink has to be the most fun.

  • Begin with frosting and your glasses. You begin by coating the rim of each glass with frosting and then sticking sprinkle hearts to it, much like you would with salt on a margarita glass.
  • Add Ice. Next prepare by adding ice into your shaker.
  • Add the liquids. Pour in the Tequila Rose first. Then pour the strawberry milk and chocolate vodka over it.
  • Shake it up. Mix up all those sweet Valentine’s Day flavors.
  • Enjoy!

Tips for Success

One of my favorite things about this recipe is that it is simple to make. There aren’t a lot of complicated steps to come up with a very impressive-looking Valentine’s Day martini. Getting the right ingredients is really the hardest part.

  • Use the RIGHT tequila. Let’s talk briefly about the tequila you’ll need. Tequila Rose is the cream of the crop when it comes to tequila liqueurs. (Pun intended.) It is the original strawberry cream liqueur and the first liquor to blend anything other than Irish whiskey with cream.
  • Replacements and no-nos. You should be able to pick up some Tequila Rose at your local Bevmo or even Target. You can’t really get the same flavor of this drink by substituting it with plain tequila, as Tequila Rose is a liqueur and brings a very creamy taste to the recipe that only has hints of tequila. So replacing it with straight tequila would very much change the drink. If you absolutely have to replace it, I recommend using another liqueur (a fruity one, if possible).
  • Use large ice cubes in your shaker.
  • Shake well but not vigorously. You don’t want chunks of ice to break off into your martini.
  • What about refills? If you are having seconds of your cocktail, I suggest starting with a fresh glass each time, if possible. Though the frosting and sprinkles on the rim of the glass really are the beautiful touch that puts this drink’s presentation over the top, it can get quite smushed and eaten up as you enjoy your drink. I find it best to start with a freshly decorated glass each time, if possible.

Can I Make This Into A Pitcher Cocktail?

This Valentine’s Day martini recipe makes one glass. It’s pretty simple to make one at a time using your shaker, but what if you’re planning quite a night with your Valentine and want to make more?

You can quadruple the recipe by making it with 16 oz of each liquid and adding it to a pitcher. You have two options for serving it ice cold but not ON ice as a martini should be. First, you could add ice to the pitcher and stir it well to chill the strawberry martinis. Then immediately proceed to pour it into each glass. This works best if you are pouring 4 glasses at once.

You can also keep the mixture in a pitcher in the fridge and pour it out as needed. Or you can even pour each serving into a shaker of ice just before serving or refilling a glass.

Can This Be Made In Advance?

You can make this recipe in advance but you don’t want to mix it with ice until you are ready to serve your drinks. Nobody wants a watered-down martini.

Store your mixture in a pitcher in the fridge.

However, you shouldn’t make the frosting-decorated glasses too far in advance, as the frosting can harden too much. Those are best decorated right when serving your cocktails or only shortly before.
