Easy Mermaid Punch Recipe

If you’re looking for a drink that will transport you away to a tropical paradise, this easy Mermaid Water punch is it! With spiced rum, coconut rum, blue curacao and pineapple juice, it’s fruity, citrusy and coconut-y. Exactly the drink to drink while lounging around the pool or tanning at the beach!

This is a big batch cocktail, so it’s perfect for groups! This recipe already makes a handful of drinks but double or triple as needed for your group.

What Is Mermaid Water?

Mermaid water (mermaid punch) is a fruity, coconut-y, rum punch made with both spiced and coconut rum, a splash of blue curacao, and pineapple juice. Fresh limes are squeezed in for a little citrus boost.

The name Mermaid Water comes from the beautiful blue-green color – just like a mermaid’s tail!

Be warned – Even though it tastes like juice, this is a STRONG drink so drink responsibly! If desired, you can add some ginger ale to lighten it up a bit.

What You’ll Need

  • Spiced rum – Captain Morgan is the most popular but any brand will work. Each spiced rum is made with slightly different spices, so keep that in mind when choosing. I like Captain Morgan for the vanilla undertones.
  • Coconut rum – Malibu and Parrot Bay are both great options, but any brand will work.
  • Pineapple juice
  • Limes – Be sure to squeeze your own limes for this! Don’t try to substitute the bottles of lime juice.
  • Blue curacao – Adds both color and flavor to the mermaid punch.

Making mermaid punch is incredibly easy. Combine all of the ingredients in a large punch bowl or pitcher. Stir and refrigerate until it’s time to serve. Pour into glasses over ice, garnish with a lime slice, and enjoy!

Can I Make This Rum Punch Less Strong?

If all the liquor sounds like a little too much, or you want a batch to go a little further, go ahead and add some ginger ale to the punch bowl before serving. It’ll also make the drink a little sweeter.

Can I Make This for One? Or a Big Group?

Absolutely. To make a single cocktail, just add a shot of both rums, half a shot of blue curacao, 6 ounces or so of juice, and a squeeze of lime.

For a bigger group, just double or triple the recipe as needed.
