This Strawberry Basil Margarita is vibrant and refreshing cocktail, combining the classic margarita with the fresh flavors of summer.

  • Total Time: 5 minutes
  • Yield: 1 margarita 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 ½ ounces silver tequila
  • 1 ounce orange liqueur
  • ¾ ounce lime juice
  • ½ ounce simple syrup
  • 3 strawberries cut into quarters
  • 4 basil leaves, 1 saved for garnish
  • Coarse salt and water in a shallow dish
  • Lime wheel for garnish
  • Glass filled ¾ with ice
  • Cocktail shaker and strainer
  • Cocktail jigger
  • Muddler or cocktail spoon with flat end
  • Salt the rim of the glass and add ice

Instructions

  1. Add the lime juice to the cocktail shaker.
  2. Add the simple syrup to the cocktail shaker.
  3. Add strawberries and basil leaves torn into large pieces to the cocktail shaker.
  4. Using the muddler or flat end of the cocktail spoon, muddle (crush) the ingredients together for 1 minute.
  5. Add the silver tequila to the cocktail shaker.
  6. Add the orange liqueur to the cocktail shaker.
  7. Add ice to the cocktail shaker and put the top on. Shake until combined.
  8. Double strain the mixture into your margarita glass. I suggest straining it into a separate glass, pouring it back into the shaker, and then straining it into the margarita glass.
  9. Add a lime wedge and a basil leaf if desired and enjoy!
