How to Make a Strawberry Basil Margarita

  • Salt your rim. Moisten the rim with water, then gently press it into a shallow dish filled with coarse salt, ensuring an even coating.
  • Start building flavor. In a cocktail shaker, add lime juice and simple syrup.
  • Muddle it up. Add the quartered strawberries and torn basil leaves to the cocktail shaker. Using a muddler or the flat end of a cocktail spoon, gently muddle (crush) the ingredients together for about a minute. This process extracts the flavors and aromas from the strawberries and basil, infusing them into the cocktail.
  • Add the alcohol. Pour in the silver tequila and orange liqueur.
  • Cool it down. Fill the cocktail shaker with ice, ensuring it is about three-fourths full. Secure the top of the shaker tightly.
  • Shake it up! Shake the mixture vigorously until all the ingredients are thoroughly combined and chilled.
  • Strain and Serve. To achieve a smooth and refined texture, double strain the mixture into your margarita glass. We recommend straining it into a separate glass, pouring it back into the shaker, and then straining it into the margarita glass.
  • Make it look pretty. Garnish your Strawberry Basil Margarita with a lime wheel and a fresh basil leaf for an added touch of elegance and aroma.
  • Enjoy! Sip, savor, and relish in the harmonious medley of flavors that dance across your palate with each delightful sip.

How to Make a Strawberry Basil Margarita Pitcher

If you’re planning to share the enchantment of the Strawberry Basil Margarita with a group of friends or simply want to ensure a steady supply of this delightful libation, make it a pitcher!

Just multiply the ingredients depending on how many servings you wish to have. Use your pitcher instead of a cocktail shaker and lightly muddle the ingredients, stirring well before serving for even distribution.

Can I Make This as a Mocktail?

Absolutely! If you prefer a non-alcoholic version of the Strawberry Basil Margarita, simply omit the silver tequila and orange liqueur. Add more lime juice and simple syrup to maintain the desired balance of sweet and tangy flavors.

Tips for Success

  • Experiment with Different Varieties: Feel free to explore different strawberry varieties, such as sweet and juicy California strawberries or smaller, intensely flavored wild strawberries. Each variety will bring its unique characteristics to the cocktail.
  • Adjust Sweetness Level: Taste the mixture before straining and serving. If you prefer a sweeter margarita, add a touch more simple syrup. For a more tart and tangy profile, decrease the amount of simple syrup.
  • Fresh Ingredients are Key: Using fresh strawberries and basil will enhance the flavors and aromas of your Strawberry Basil Margarita. Look for ripe and juicy strawberries and opt for fresh basil leaves for the best results.
  • Get Creative with Presentation: Consider garnishing your cocktail with additional strawberry slices or a basil sprig for an eye-catching presentation. The visual appeal adds to the overall experience.

Cheers to the perfect balance of sweet strawberries, aromatic basil, and the classic margarita, beautifully intertwined to create a masterpiece of a cocktail!
