If you’re looking for an easy Christmas jello shot recipe, look no further than these Santa Hat Jello Shots! They begin with a simple strawberry jello shot base and the simple addition of some whipped topped and a fresh strawberry gives them an appearance of a Santa hat. Super cute and super easy to make!

I made these with marshmallow vodka to give the strawberry flavor a bit of a twist but as always, you can make these jello shots with any liquor you prefer.

And the best thing about these Santa hat jello shots? They’re perfect for making a day in advance, so all you need to do the day of the party is added the whipped cream and strawberry.

What You’ll Need

You’ll need just a handful of ingredients for these Christmas jello shots.

• Jello – The strawberry jello is the base of these Santa hat jello shots.
• Water
• Marshmallow vodka – Regular vodka works too but I love the light flavor the marshmallow vodka adds. Strawberry vodka would also be great.
• Whipped cream – The whipped cream makes the base of the santa hat.
• Strawberries – Fresh strawberries top the whipped cream to make the santa hat. Be sure to hull the strawberries first.

Jello Shot Essentials

Here are our favorite tools for making the best jello shots.

• Condiment cups – Unless you have a large stash of shot glasses, you’ll want to make your jello shots in condiment cups. Most jello shots are made in 2 ounce condiment cups but if you want the shots to go further, you can use 1 ounce condiment cups instead.
• Sauce pan – You’ll want to use a decent, non-stick saucepan for preparing your Jello shots. We like this one.
• Baster – A baster is my secret to easily filling the Jello shot cups, without making a mess!
• Measuring cups – To ensure you’re adding the right amount of water and liquor, you’ll want a decent measuring cup as well.

How to Make Santa Hat Jello Shots

These Christmas jello shots come together in no time. They do need to chill for several hours, so be sure to make them well in advance.

• Heat the water. In a microwave-safe measuring cup, add one cup of water. Microwave on high for 1 minute. 
• Dissolve the jello! Add ½ cup cold water and the strawberry jello. Whisk until jello dissolves. 
• Fill the cups. Carefully fill each cup, but not full to the rim.
• Chill. Place in the fridge to cool until the jello is firm. Usually a minimum of 3 hours but overnight is best.
• Garnish each jello shot. Top with whipped cream, add a fresh strawberry with the pointed top up. Top the strawberry with a bit of whipped cream.

• What liqueur should I use? This recipe calls for Marshmallow Vodka, but you can also use Strawberry Vodka or even white rum or regular vodka.
• What can I use to fill the jello cups with? As I mentioned above, a baster is my favorite way to fill jello cups. If you don’t have one, a ladle also works well.
• When should I add whipped cream? Sadly, whipped cream melts super easily, so you’ll want to add this RIGHT as you’re about to serve it.
• What does hulling a strawberry mean? When you hull a strawberry, you are removing the leafy green part. That part isn’t edible.

How to Store Santa Hat Jello Shots

Like all jello shots, these holiday jello shots need to be made in advance. They should be stored in the fridge, with their lids, until serving. Note that they should be stored without whipped cream and strawberries. Only add the whipped cream just before serving, as it won’t last long in the fridge.
