Easy Peppermint Pudding Shots Recipe

In the fall I love everything pumpkin flavored (hello pumpkin pudding shots and pumpkin sangria!) and at Christmas time I love all things peppermint. This peppermint pudding shot recipe gives you the chance to use a seasonal vodka to really embrace that holiday feeling.

These peppermint pudding shots are so easy, a reindeer could make them. With only four ingredients, and no baking, this peppermint twist vodka recipe is a great option to throw together for your upcoming holiday party. The best part is they require just a few minutes of prep and can easily be prepared the night before.

Why You’ll Love This Peppermint Twist Vodka Recipe

There are many reasons to fall in love with these peppermint pudding shots.

  • Lovely peppermint flavor. The use of peppermint twist vodka in the pudding shot itself plus the peppermint candy on top infuses each bite with just the right amount of peppermint flavor.
  • Sweet, creamy texture. Thanks to the vanilla pudding and whipped topping, each of these peppermint pudding shots has a sweet flavor and creamy texture that makes them the perfect dessert substitute.
  • Super easy to make! One reason we love pudding shots even more than jello shots is because they’re so EASY to make. Absolutely no cooking required! Just whisk the ingredients together, fill the pudding shot cups, and chill.

What You’ll Need

These Peppermint Twist Vodka Pudding Shots only take four main ingredients, along with your peppermint garnish.

  •  Peppermint Twist Vodka. This Peppermint Twist Vodka is like Christmas in (and on!) a bottle.
  • Whipped Topping. Whipped topping makes your peppermint pudding shots creamier.
  • Instant Box Vanilla Pudding. Be sure to grab the instant pudding for this recipe. This peppermint pudding shot recipe requires no cooking, so to get the correct consistency in your shot, instant pudding is the way to go!
  • Peppermint Candies. A little crunch to add on top to make it Instagram worthy, of course!
  • Milk. You can use any kind of milk that you prefer. Note that 2% and skim milk will create a thinner consistency than whole milk.

How to Make Peppermint Pudding Shots

Remember when I said it was super easy to make these peppermint pudding shots? Here’s the proof!

  • Combine the 4 ingredients. Mix the peppermint twist vodka, whipped topping, milk and pudding mix in a mixing bowl.
  •  Transfer. Carefully add your mixture into condiment cups.
  • Garnish your creation. Top your shot with peppermint candies. Place your candies in a plastic bag to smash with zero mess!
  • Cheers! You can enjoy it immediately or place it in the fridge for an hour to chill.

Tips for Making Pudding Shots

The more you experiment with making pudding shots, the more you will learn to make things go smoothly.

  • Fill the cups on a cookie sheet. To make things easier on yourself, I suggest using a cookie sheet or deep tray, depending on what you have available, to line up your condiment cups.
  • Fold the Cool Whip in gently. To avoid having a runny finished product, carefully fold and mix to keep the fluffy feeling from the whipped topping. If you try to stir it too much, it will lose the fluffy consistency.
  • A tip for transferring. A spoon works great to transfer the mixture, but using a piping bag can be a convenient alternative.

Peppermint Twist Pudding Shot Variations

For a bit of variety on these peppermint pudding shots, try switching up these ingredients.

  • Garnish with mini candy canes. How adorable would it be to garnish these Peppermint Pudding Shots with a mini stick of a candy cane?! Your toppings can be personalized to your favorite peppermint candy!
  • Use any peppermint liquor you have on hand. Your Peppermint Twist Vodka could be switched out with Peppermint Schnapps, or any peppermint flavored alcohol that you prefer.
  • Make chocolate peppermint pudding shots. If you love mint and chocolate, give chocolate pudding instead of vanilla pudding a try in your peppermint pudding shot.

How to Store Pudding Shots

Peppermint pudding shots are best enjoyed within 24 to 48 hours, though you can keep them in the fridge for 3 days or so. The whipped topping will start to soften and separate eventually.

You can also freeze these pudding shots, after they’ve set completely. Freeze for up to 3 months then thaw in the fridge and enjoy. Or enjoy them while frozen!

If you’re serving these for a party, you may want to freeze them anyway, so that they are still chilled longer when serving at the party.
