If you’re looking for easy Red White and Blue Jello Shots for your upcoming 4th of July party, look no further. These patriotic jello shots are made with strawberry jello topped with whipped cream and blueberries.

Why You’ll Love These 4th of July Jello Shots
What sets these red white and blue jello shots apart from all of the other patriotic jello shot recipes? Here are a few things!
- Super easy. Many patriotic jello shots require layering at least two colors of jello. The end result is beautiful but it requires quite a bit of patience and time. These red white and blue jello shots require just 1 jello with the other two colors coming from the garnishes.
- Perfect for any gathering. We made these for 4th of July but they’d work perfectly at Memorial Day or any other summer gathering too.
- Ideal for making in advance. We love jello shots because they can easily be made a day or two in advance. These are no exception, though the garnishes should be added just before serving. (More on that below!)

What You’ll Need
You’ll need just 5 ingredients to make these easy red white and blue jello shots!
- Jello – The red in these red white and blue jello shots comes from the strawberry jello. Another red-colored jello would also work, like cherry or strawberry banana.
- Vodka – I used the Smirnoff Red White & Berry Vodka for this, which adds a fun flavor, but any vodka would work. White rum would be another good option.
- Whipped cream – Whipped cream adds the white layer to these patriotic jello shots.
- Sprinkles – Fun patriotic sprinkles give these 4th of July jello shots a festive vibe.
- Blueberries – And finally, the blue layer of these jello shots! I highly recommend fresh blueberries but frozen would work in a pinch, just expect the color to “bleed” a bit.
Jello Shot Essentials
We make a LOT of jello shots. Here are the tools we find most helpful when making them!
- Condiment cups – Unless you have a large stash of shot glasses, you’ll want to make your jello shots in condiment cups. Most jello shots are made in 2 ounce condiment cups but if you want the shots to go further, you can use 1 ounce condiment cups instead.
- Sauce pan – You’ll want to use a decent, non-stick saucepan for preparing your Jello shots. We like this one.
- Baster – A baster is my secret to easily filling the Jello shot cups, without making a mess!
- Measuring cups – To ensure you’re adding the right amount of water and liquor, you’ll want a decent measuring cup as well.

How to Make Red White and Blue Jello Shots
These easy patriotic jello shots come together in a few easy steps.
- Make the jello. Bring the water to a boil and whisk in the strawberry jello. Once dissolved, add the vodka.
- Chill. Transfer the jello to the condiment cups. Transfer to the fridge for at least 2 hours, until the jello has set.
- Garnish. Just before serving, top the 4th of July jello shots with whipped cream and garnish with blueberries and sprinkles.
Tips for Success
Here are a few tips for making these patriotic jello shots.
- Place the condiment cups on a baking sheet. For easy storage and transfer to the fridge, place the condiment cups on a rimmed baking sheet before filling.
- Make sure the jello sets before garnishing. 2 hours is the minimum but aim for 3-4 hours. Do not add the toppings until the jello is completely set.
- Add toppings just before serving. To prevent the whipped cream from melting, be sure to add the toppings just before serving.
- Can I use frozen blueberries? Fresh are best but in a pinch, yes. They’ll likely “bleed” on the whipped cream.

Can I Prepare These in Advance?
Absolutely. In fact, I recommend it! Jello shots can be stored in the fridge for up to 5 days. Once they’ve set, you can add the condiment lids and stack them.
Note that with these red, white, and blue jello shots you shouldn’t add the toppings until just before serving.
