Do you ever love a drink so much that you end up going to a restaurant just for that drink? That was me with Chili’s Strawberry Margarita. I can’t count the number of times Chili’s was my dinner choice just so sip a cold, refreshing frozen strawberry margarita.

So, of course, I had to figure out how to make it at home. In reality, it’s pretty similar to any strawberry margarita recipe with one secret ingredient – frozen limeade. Limeade enhances the strawberry flavor and makes this recipe a bit tart instead of super sweet, which I love.

Recipe Ingredients

Chili’s frozen strawberry margarita ingredients are pretty much what you’d expect from any strawberry margarita recipe, with the twist of adding some limeade from that extra punch.

  • Tequila – Silver tequila is best for this recipe. No need for a top-shelf brand, but use something you like to drink!
  • Orange liqueur – Such as Triple Sec or Gran Marnier.
  • Lime juice – Fresh is best!
  • Frozen limeade – Adds a tangy flavor to the strawberry margarita and helps make it slushy.
  • Simple syrup – You can grab it at the store but it’s super easy to make homemade simple syrup. For a twist, try using mint simple syrup.
  • Strawberries – You can use fresh or frozen strawberries for this recipe.
  • Sugar – For rimming the glass. Coarse sugar is ideal if you have it.
  • Lime – Lime slices or wedges are ideal for garnishing this frozen margarita.

How to Sugar A Margarita Glass

For this frozen strawberry margarita, we opted for a sugared rim instead of a traditional salt rim. Though you can use salt instead, if desired!

  • Dip the rim in simple syrup. Pour some simple syrup into a shallow dish then dip the rim straight up and rim.
  • Dip the rim into sugar. Let it set for a second then dip the rim straight up and down into a dish of sugar. Note that coarse sugar is best but regular sugar will work fine too.

How to Make Chili’s Frozen Strawberry Margarita At Home

Here’s how to make your favorite Chili’s strawberry margarita in just a few minutes at home!

  • Sugar the glass rims. See above.
  • Shake, shake shake. Add the tequila, orange liqueur, lime juice, limeade, and simple syrup to your cocktail shaker. Shake to combine.
  • Blend. Transfer the ingredients to your blender, along with ice and strawberries. Blend until the mixture reaches your desired consistency.
  • Enjoy. Transfer to the sugared glasses, garnish with a lime slice and fresh strawberries if desired, and enjoy.

Make Chili’s Strawberry Margarita For a Crowd

Want to serve this recipe up to a group? Just multiply the ingredients by 4, 6, or 8. You may need to make it in batches, depending on the size of your blender!

Can You Make Frozen Margaritas In Advance?

Yes, you can actually prepare these frozen strawberry margaritas in advance. Just blend as directed, then transfer to a freezer-safe container. The alcohol will prevent it from freezing completely. You may want to blend again for a few seconds, depending on the consistency you’re looking for.

Ingredients

  • 2 ounces silver tequila
  • 1 ounce orange liqueur
  • 1 ounce lime juice
  • 1-ounce frozen limeade
  • 1-ounce simple syrup
  • 8 ounces strawberries (fresh or frozen)
  • Sugar and simple syrup a shallow dish for the rim of the glass
  • Lime slices or wedges

Instructions

  1. Dip the rim of the glass into the simple syrup and then in the sugar.
  2. Add the silver tequila to the cocktail shaker
  3. Add the orange liqueur to the cocktail shaker
  4. Add the lime juice to the cocktail shaker 
  5. Add the limeade to the cocktail shaker 
  6. Add the simple syrup to the cocktail shaker. 
  7. Shake the cocktail shaker. Add the ice, strawberries, and cocktail shaker contents to your blender.
  8. Close the lid on your blender, turn on the blender and puree until the mixture is the desired consistency.
  9. Add lime slice or strawberry if desired and serve!
