Easy Cherry Fireball Jello Shots

Love Fireball whisky? Then you’re going to love these Cherry Fireball Jello Shots, made with Fireball whisky and cherry jello. Maraschino cherries add an extra touch (though you can skip them if you win).

With their red color, these cherry cinnamon jello shots are ideal for pretty much any occasion. The red color adds a festive touch for Christmas and Valentine’s Day but you can never go wrong with Fireball on game day or any party. And with a cinnamon cherry flavor, these aren’t your boring (or headache-inducing!) jello shots from your college days either.

What You’ll Need

These Fireball jello shots are made with just 3 ingredients, plus water.

  • Cherry jelloCherry pairs perfectly with cinnamon whiskey.
  • Water
  • Fireball Whisky – You can also substitute any other brand of cinnamon whiskey.
  • Maraschino cherries – These cinnamon jello shots are served with a cherry in the center.

Jello Shot Essentials

  • Condiment cups – Unless you have a large stash of shot glasses, you’ll want to make your jello shots in condiment cups. Most jello shots are made in 2 ounce condiment cups but if you want the shots to go further, you can use 1 ounce condiment cups instead.
  • Sauce pan – You’ll want to use a decent, non-stick saucepan for preparing your jello shots. We like this one.
  • Baster – A baster is my secret to easily filling the jello shot cups, without making a mess!
  • Measuring cups – To ensure you’re adding the right amount of water and liquor, you’ll want a decent measuring cup as well.

How to Make Fireball Jello Shots

These cherry jello shots require just a few easy steps.

  • Make the jello. Bring 2 cups of water to a boil. Whisk in the cherry jello until dissolved.
  • Add the whisky. Stir in the cup of cold water and the Fireball.
  • Chill. Transfer the mixture to the plastic cups. Chill for at least 4 hours. (Overnight is best.)
  • Serve. Remove a bit of jello from the center of each jello shot and place a maraschino cherry in the center before serving.

Tips & Variations

Here are a few tips for the best Fireball jello shots.

  • Use a baster to fill the jello cups. The easiest way I’ve found to make jello shots is to use a baster to suck up the mixture and transfer it to the cups. A ladle with a pourable edge also works well.
  • Make these a day in advance. While jello shots should always chill for at least 4 hours, I always recommend making them a day ahead of time to ensure they set fully before serving.
  • Try it with a different jello. While I’m partial to the cherry flavor, black cherry or strawberry jello would also work in this recipe.
  • Swap some water for apple juice. Another flavorful variation to these Fireball jello shots is to replace some of the water with apple juice or apple cider. It adds another layer of flavor and is super tasty.

Serving Suggestions

These Fireball jello shots should be refrigerated until just before serving. If you don’t feel like cutting the center out for the cherry, you can also just serve them on top. Sometimes I also like to add a bit of whipped cream before serving as well.

While jello shots are usually served without any utensils, I like to offer up some mini spoons for serving.

How Long Will Jello Shots Last?

Fireball jello shots will last for about a week in the fridge. Once they’ve set, be sure to add lids to the cups. However, they are best enjoyed within 2 to 3 days. Otherwise, they can be a bit watery and not as flavorful. The texture will also get softer.
