Easy Halloween Jello Shots in Syringes

How fun are these Green Ooze Syringe Jello Shots?! These are the first jello shots in syringes I’ve made, but they definitely will not be the last. They were a huge hit at my Halloween party, as everyone had so much fun “injecting” each other with the shot.

To make things better, syringe jello shots are just as easy to make as any other jello shot. In fact, since the syringe fills itself, I think they may be even easier!

I made these with white rum and green jello but feel free to switch it up with whatever you have on hand.

What You’ll Need

These Halloween jello shots are made with just 3 ingredients!

  • Lime jello – Adds the green “biohazard ooze” color.
  • Water
  • White rum – Any brand you enjoy will work!

What Syringes Can I Use for Jello Shots?

For this recipe, you’ll want 1.5 oz food grade syringes. You can also find and use 2 ounce jello shot syringes, you’ll just end up with fewer jello shots.

Can I use regular syringes to make jello shots? No, regular syringes won’t work. They won’t hold nearly enough liquid and no one wants a needle in their drink! Be sure to use syringes meant for jello shots or other food items.

Recipe Variations

Here are a few ways to switch up your jello shots in syringes.

  • Use a different flavor jello. I chose to use lime jello to have the green ooze theme but you can use any jello in these syringes. Orange jello is perfect for Halloween and you can never go wrong with strawberry or cherry in jello shots.
  • Swap out the liquor. If white rum isn’t your preference, try these syringe jello shots with vodka or your other desired liquor.

How to Make Halloween Syringe Jello Shots

The great thing about syringe jello shots is that while they look cool, they’re actually super easy to make.

  • Prepare the jello mixture. Bring the water to a bowl. Remove from heat. Add the jello and stir for 2 minutes. Add the rum.
  • Fill the syringes. Insert the syringe into the jello mixture and pull the cap to fill.
  • Chill. Chill in the fridge for 2 to 3 hours.

Tips for Success

Here are a few tips for making jello shots in syringes.

  • Add the cap. If your syringes come with caps, be sure to put them on to prevent any jello from leaking out the bottom.
  • Store in a bowl or on a baking sheet. Place the filled syringes on a baking sheet or in a bowl to prevent any leaks in the fridge.
  • Chill for at least 2 hours. These Halloween jello shots need to chill for at least 2 hours but I recommend longer than that, to ensure they set properly.
  • Can I reuse syringes for jello shots? Yes! Ask your guests to save the syringes as they can be washed and reused.

Can These Be Made in Advance?

These syringe jello shots are great for making in advance. In fact, I recommend it! As mentioned above, 2 to 3 hours is the bare minimum amount of time they should chill but I highly recommend making them the day before. That means there’s even less prep the day of your Halloween party!

These will last for up to 5 days in the fridge but are best when enjoyed in 2 days.
